After the trail ride, I smoked some ribs for friends and family. By now all the Black Iron Gang is my extended family. Well pretty much everyone that comes and eats at our cook shack is family. Any way it was a great turn out and some fine food. I did ribs and a new recipe from Western Horseman and Kent Rollins, Black Beans and Rice. Walter made some tortilla and dip chips. Enic and his wife Susan brought a fresh green salad. Ms Julie Cliett brought two of her famous pecan pies and some birthday cake (which I did not get pics of . Bill and his wife Polly brought homemade french bread.

Until next time.

Trail ride number one.

Some of the gang went on a trail ride the other day with some friends. It was a beautiful New Mexico day, clear blue skies and in the upper 60's. We went to Fort Stanton National Conservation Area. They have close to 100 miles of trails on 25000 federal acres managed by BLM.

After a short 6 mile ride we returned to the trail head to have lunch. Walt was there cooking lunch and a fine spread it was. We had sloppy joes  chips, soda's, brownies and of course peach cobbler. It was a great ride and we plan on doing another soon, plus an overnight-er when it warms up at night.

Here is lunch:

Well lets see. We had a Superbowl party at Walt's house and it was a pretty good feed. Did I ever mention we liked exotic or different variety of food besides the standards. This is what we had; I fried up some Rocky Mountain Oysters, Alligator and Little Smokey Sausage in BBQ sauce. Wayne had; Jalapeno Poppers, one with sausage wrapped in bacon the other was Poppers stuffed with Elk meat topped with cheese, also some Elk taco fixings and a veggie tray. Bill brought some Chicken Gumbo (because the game was in New Orleans) french bread for dipping and a veggie tray. Walt made some Chicken wings. As always we have way to much food.

Congratulations to the Raven fans and condolences to the  San Francisco fans.
